In this step by step lesson, I will show you how to design and animate simple clouds. Using this lesson, you will also learn how to use Blur effect in flash, how to import any picture into a flash and much more! You don't have to use action script code to make this lesson.

Step 1

First of all, save a picture below, which we will use for this effect!

Step 2

Create a new flash document. Press Ctrl+J key on the keyboard (Document Properties) and set the width of your document to 334 pixels and the height to 269 pixels (as the dimensions of picture). Select any color as background color. Set your Flash movie's frame rate to 38 and click ok. See the picture below.

Step 3

Choose now, file > Import > Import to stage (Shortcut key: Ctrl+R) and import a photo that you just saved in step 1 into a flash stage.

Step 4

While the photo is still selected, go to the Align Panel (Ctrl+K) and do the following:

1. Make sure that the Align/Distribute to Stage button is turned on,
2. Click on the Align horizontal center button and
3. Click the Align vertical center button.

Step 5

Double click now on layer 1 to rename its name into a picture. After that. create a new layer above the layer picture and name it clouds. See the picture below!

Step 6

Take now the Brush Tool (B). For Stroke color choose No color, for Fill color choose white color and draw a shape (clouds) like it is shown on the picture below!

Step 7

While the clouds is still selected, press F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert this shape (clouds) into a Movie Clip Symbol.

Step 8

Take now the Selection Tool (V) and click once on the clouds to select it. Then, go to the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) below the stage. On the right, you will see the Color menu. Select Alpha in it and put it down to 26%.

After that, Select Filters tab from the left side. Click after that on the plus icon and select the Blur filter. Make the adjustments as follows:

1. Blur X and Y : 54
2. Quality : Low

Now, you get this:

Step 9

Place now that clouds from the left side of picture.

Step 10

Then, click on frame 140 and press F6 key. While you're still on frame 140, place the clouds using the Selection Too (V), or by arrows keys on the keyboard to the right side of picture.

Step 11

Right-click anywhere on the gray area between frame 1 and 140 on the timeline and choose Create Motion Tween from the menu that appears.See the picture below.
